A Modest Proposal

Postby Robyn Jodie on Thu Mar 04, 2010 8:40 am

Since 93% of all posts about high heeled shoes seem to get posted to the "Sissy Shoe Discussion" forum,

and

98% of all the posts about old lady [sorry--"non-sissy"] shoes seem to get posted either to the "Sissy Shoe Discussion" forum or in the "Off Topic"forum,

Let's either

(1) accept failure and close and delete the "Heels" and "Grown-up shoes" forums,

or else

(2) have a moderator delete all posts on these topics that are NOT posted in the appropriate forum.
I know that option (2) sounds harsh, I think a few weeks of strict enforcement would persuade
people to post more appropriately.

I agree! I'm sure a lot of time was spent setting up the "heels" section especialy for those who want to post/discuss this footwear, which is of little interest to the rest of us.

I don't understand all your concern about this. When I check in I simply hit the "New posts" and read what's new. I don't even have a clue or care (personally) what forum they are in and I would be just as happy to have only one forum.

why is this so important? Am I missing something here?

I think we all have posts by favorite members and unfavorite members that we either read or ignore from our past experiences.

personally, I read everything (as the site is hosted by me) but that doesn't mean I care about everything that is posted and the only time I would consider deleting another members post is when it was outright deceitful or hurtful to other members.

Everyones comments are welcome, however, and I'll be happy to do whatever the majority of the members wish.

Rather than deleting the posts, I would prefer to see MJB move "non-sissy" shoe discussions to either the "heels" or "grown up" boards as appropriate IF let's say three or more members reply "not sissy" to someone's post on the "Sissy Shoe" discussion or "Movie" boards. As for the "off-topic" board, I think anything goes there, although I believed some posts actually belonged with the "Sissy Shoe" discussions.

My problem is that I have ABSOLUTELY NO interest in high heels or granny shoes, so I
rarely look in those forums.

Apparently the people who dote on such shoes don't like the lower hit counts in these forums
and therefore feel the need to force people like me to look at their <yuck> high heeled/granny
shoes by posting out-of-forum.

MJB,

You must be missing something with so many members requesting this change.

Just like "Boys in Mary Janes" belongs in Pictures!

I still don't understand the big deal but I have deleted the Grown Up Shoes forum. I'm leaving the Heels forum alone, for now at least, as I think it has a place here and I love heels myself.

I agree that it would be nice to move "inappropriate" pictures to their correct location; but I hate to ask the moderator to do all that work. Perhaps first steps might be to have a guide to where things go (I like the idea of boys in MJ's to go to pictures). Then maybe gently guide others who stray. I sure don't mind being guided. Maybe that would make less work for you MJB - and make us more responsible. No spankings, though, please. Wait a minute! How many people are really posting, anyway?

I want to help make this community a long lived happy one as long as I am here. Meanwhile, I will miss some things because I just ignore certain posters and forums.

I do believe most post in the correct forum. We only have a certain amount of posters anyhow, as you point out.

Don't worry, no spankings shall be administered (by the MJB, at least).

My feeling is if you don't like something then don't look at it. But then i have been know to "Think Different, on occasion)!

That is what I try to do, but when someone posts out of forum, I have a profound sense of
having been tricked into looking at something I have no interest in.

A note on "granny shoes"

Postby Robyn Jodie on Tue Mar 09, 2010 10:35 am

When I used the term "granny shoes" I did not mean to imply that only grannies wore them;
that is merely what I have heard them called, even by young women who wore them -- as for
instance, one might hear, "I have a really cute pair of granny shoes like that at home."

What my own grandmother actually wore were "sensible" black laced shoes with a broad
and blocky medium-high heel, very unlike the stylish "granny shoes" young women wear
today.

True, R.J. A lot of the lace-up heels being offered at places like Payless wouldn't have a conservative enough appearence to appeal to most "grandmas" around today (or more like grate-grandmas). These footware are definatly much younger targeted but will contain styling cues much "like grandma used to wear". One big example that comes to mind is wing-tip patterns and incompleat perforations. Hence comes the nickname "granny", which also applies to a lot of lower-heeled lace-up womens' boots.
